You can connect Peasy to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude so they can answer questions about your business — inventory, orders, bills, payments, vendors, and more — using your live Peasy data. They can also stage spreadsheet imports for you to review inside Peasy and, if you allow it, make changes you approve, such as new customer payment terms. This is an optional power-user feature; you don't need it for everyday work in Peasy.
How to Get There
Go to Configure, then under Beta select Ask Anywhere. The Connected AI Agents section is at the top.
How to Connect
- In the Connected AI Agents section, click Connect next to ChatGPT or Claude.
- Copy the MCP Server URL shown in the dialog (it looks like
https://your-workspace.peasyos.com/api/mcp). MCP is the standard way AI assistants connect to outside tools. - Click Open ChatGPT (or Open Claude) and, in that assistant, add Peasy as a connector and paste the MCP Server URL.
- The assistant sends you back to Peasy to sign in, choose your workspace, and approve access.
- Approve, and the assistant is connected. You can start asking it about your Peasy data.
What You're Approving
When you approve access, you grant:
- Read access — the assistant can look up your inventory, orders, bills, invoices, payments, sales (e.g. best sellers and units sold), vendors, and customers.
- Stage imports for review (optional) — the assistant can prepare a spreadsheet bill or sales-order import and send it to Peasy for your review.
- Make changes you approve (optional, off unless you tick it) — the assistant can propose the same changes Beacon can, such as new payment terms for a customer or a to-do. Peasy asks the assistant to show you each change and get your OK in the conversation before making it, so allow this only for an assistant you trust. The assistant can undo any change it makes.
Without that last permission, the assistant can't change your data. Even with it, the assistant can't create or pay a bill or confirm an order, and changes it makes are recorded as yours. If you connected an assistant before this option existed, remove Peasy from that assistant's connectors, add it again using the steps above, and tick Make changes you approve when you approve access.
Asking for Customer and Item Groups
You can ask for a customer group using a supported filter, such as “Show my active customers” or “Which active customers have 15-day payment terms?” These groups use your current Peasy data and exclude channel customers.
You can also ask for your active items from one vendor, category, item family or catalog, such as “List the items we buy from Acme.” If the name matches more than one vendor, category, family or catalog, the assistant asks which one you mean.
Groups are read-only results, not approval to change every record in the group. A label such as “wholesale customers” needs a supported filter rather than the assistant guessing who belongs.
Managing Connected Agents
The Connected AI Agents section lists every assistant you've connected, with the access it has and the date of its last actual tool call. Signing in, approving access, or letting the assistant discover available tools does not change that date. Click Revoke next to any agent to disconnect it immediately. You can reconnect later by going through the steps above again.
Using an API Key Instead
If you're connecting a different MCP client (not ChatGPT or Claude) and it needs a key, scroll down to Active Keys and click Create Key. Give it a name, and check Allow data import staging if you want it to stage imports too, or Make changes you approve if you want it to propose changes and make them once you approve. Copy the key right away — you won't be able to see it again — and paste it into your client where it asks for an authorization key.
Good to Know
- Workspace members. Anyone with access to your workspace can connect an assistant or create a key.
- One workspace per connection. Each connection is tied to the workspace you approve. If you manage more than one, connect each separately.
- Revoking is instant. A revoked agent or key stops working right away.
- Pasting a spreadsheet? When you connect an assistant, it can read a spreadsheet's contents that you share with it directly — it doesn't fetch files from web links on Peasy's behalf.
