Template Gap Alerts
Gap alerts tell you when you don't have enough ingredients or materials to complete a production run. They help you plan ahead so you can order what you need before it's time to produce.
How Gaps Work
A "gap" means the quantity of an ingredient you have on hand is less than what a template requires. Peasy compares your current inventory to the template requirements and flags any shortages.
For example, if your Honey Mustard template needs 10 lbs of mustard seeds but you only have 6 lbs on hand, that's a gap of 4 lbs.
Where You'll See Gap Alerts

Templates page — A red badge on Templates in the sidebar tells you how many templates have ingredient gaps. Each template card shows whether ingredients are in stock or short.

Flags panel — The flag icon in the sidebar shows "Make" alerts for items you need to produce. These alerts also highlight when ingredients are missing.

Template detail view — When you open a template, each ingredient shows whether you have enough. Short items are highlighted.
What to Do About Gaps
When you see a gap, you have a few options:
- Order more — Go to Buy > Items and add the short ingredient to your cart. Create a purchase order to restock.
- Wait for pending orders — Check if you already have a PO out for that ingredient. The Pending tab in the Flags panel (flag icon in the sidebar) shows what's already on order.
- Adjust the template — If you can substitute an ingredient or change quantities, edit the template.
- Produce a smaller batch — Create a work order for a smaller quantity that your current stock can support.
Good to Know
- Gaps are calculated based on current on-hand inventory, not available quantity. Pending sales or other commitments may mean the real gap is larger.
- Gap alerts update in real time as your inventory changes.
- If an ingredient has a Restock Point set, Restock Points will catch it too — so you're covered from both the buying and making side.
- Templates without any ingredient gaps won't show alerts — only the ones that need attention appear.
